Employee injured after person rams car into Burlington Police Department building

Burlington police said the person intentionally ran the car into the building. Police said the driver was suffering from a mental health crisis.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington police said an employee was injured after a car crashed into the police department's building Friday afternoon. 

Police said the act appeared to have been intentional.

The car crashed into the front doors of the building around noon.

Police had a person in custody Friday afternoon.

The driver was suffering from a mental health crisis during the crash.

Burlington police said the driver was taken for further evaluation. Police said they will continue investigating and file appropriate charges after speaking with the district attorney.

Police said the employee involved in the crash is in good health.
