Brothers arrested after shooting into car with person inside in Winston-Salem, police say

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Two brothers were arrested after they were accused of shooting into a car with a person inside in Winston-Salem.

Winston-Salem police said they responded to a shots fired call on North Cleveland and 14th Street and discovered two people had shot into the car of a man on September 26.

No one was injured in the shooting.

After investigation officers identified the suspects as brothers, Clarence McDowell, 21, and Lavhon McDowell, 18.

They were arrested and each given a $5,000 bond.

Clarence and Lavhon McDowell both posted bond and were released.

The Violent Firearms Investigation Team continued their investigation and identified the brothers were suspects in another discharging of firearms into an occupied dwelling on Sept. 16 on the 1000 block of East 17th Street.

Police found and arrested Clarence and Lavhon McDowell Wednesday and they were each charged with:

  • 1 misdemeanor count of Discharging a Firearm in City Limits
  • 14 felony counts of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle/Dwelling
  • 1 felony count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with the Intent to Kill

They both appeared  before a magistrate where bond was denied.
