GREENVILLE, N.C. — Greenville police found the mother of the newborn baby found in a dumpster at an apartment complex Sunday morning.
According to CBS affiliate, WNCT, the mother is a juvenile and was not identified. She was located later on Sunday after the baby was found.
Police said they responded to the call on Bridle Circle shortly after 10 a.m. Temperatures were in the low 40s.
Officers found the child alive and said the baby appeared to be just one or two days old. The baby was taken to ECU Health Medical Center for care.
Luckily, the baby is doing well, according to police.
The NC Department of Social Services is assisting with the investigation.
