Alamance Co. officials to share details on two Graham fire arrests in joint press conference

Graham Mayor Jennifer Talley said a man and three teens were arrested for the Culp Weaving mill fire and Green Level house fire.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — The Alamance County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) confirmed at least one person is facing charges after the former Culp Weaving mill fire in November.

Graham's Mayor Jennifer Talley said Wayland Phillips and three teens has been arrested for felony breaking and entering and arson of the Culp textile plant on Parker Street and a home in Green Level.

"We applaud our law enforcement that was committed to finding those responsible for these crimes," Talley wrote in a statement posted on Facebook. "We appreciate the tips we got from the public that help lead to the arrest of these individuals."

The fire prompted neighborhood evacuations and ravaged the mill to shambles.

At the time, fire investigators called the fire 'suspicious', suggesting someone was inside the building when the fire started.

The sheriff's office is holding a joint news conference with other agencies Tuesday about both the Culp Weaving mill fire and another fire at a house in Green Level.

It is unclear whether the agency believes these fires are connected or if anyone else is facing charges.

This investigation is ongoing.
