HIGH POINT, N.C. — A 16-year-old Andrews High School student was arrested Wednesday and charged after bringing a loaded hangun on campus, according to the High Point Police Department.
According to a statement, a school resource officer arrested the student after being notified of a door alarm being activated at one of the side doors of the school. The High Point Police department said the SRO observed the student open the door and pull in a bag from outside.
After speaking to the student, the SRO searched the bag and found a loaded gun inside, according to the police department. The student has been charged with possession of a firearm on educational property, possession of a handgun by a minor, possession of a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed gun.
According to the High Point Police Department, the student was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center under a secure custody order.
This isn't the first time this year a Triad student has been arrested for bringing a gun to school. Back in August, a student at Carver High in Winston-Salem was charged after a school resource officer found a gun and live ammunition in his possession.
