ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A mother is charged with child abuse after her baby was taken to the hospital with a broken arm, Alamance Co. deputies.

On June 6, the Orange County Department of Social Services told investigators that a 42-day-old infant had been taken to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill with a broken arm.

Investigators learned that the infant sustained the injury on June 2 at a home in Burlington and was later taken to the hospital by the child's mother 24-year-old Celine Wright.

Working with medical personnel and DSS, investigators developed probable cause to charge Wright with one count of felony child abuse inflicting serious injury.

Wright was arrested Wednesday and taken to the Alamance County Detention Center where she still remains.

The child is under the care of the Alamance County DSS and placed in a safe environment.
