Alamance County deputies identify 'Felony Lane Gang' members accused in string of car break-ins

Members are known for staking out at parks in secluded areas where there's not a lot of foot traffic.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Alamance County Sheriff's deputies have leads in a rash of car break-ins at county parks.

Deputies issued multiple warrants for members of the 'Felony Lane Gang' on July 3, following their involvement in car break-ins and fraudulent transactions in Alamance County on May 17, May 18, and June 4 of this year.

Smash and grab is what the group known by law enforcement as the felony lane gang is doing.

Criminals break into vehicles at parks, then use stolen credit cards to quickly buy gift cards at nearby stores in Cedar Rock and Shadowford parks in Alamance County.

Members are known for staking out at parks in secluded areas where there's not a lot of foot traffic.

The Alamance County Sheriff's Office warned people in the area about vehicle thefts.

Lieutenant Brad Hall with the sheriff’s office said the thieves won’t stop to get their hands on any valuables on site.

“I mean they're actually busting windows because they understand the reward far outweighs the risk,” Hall said.

Hall said the gang is not local to the area and is known to travel from state to state in rental cars with fake tags looking for vehicles at parks with valuables inside to steal.

This investigation is ongoing.
