122 felony drug charges, 86 misdemeanors, 15 trafficking charges, and a pile of other charges after Alamance Co. drug bust

'Taking Back the Streets, Together' was created in response to drug-related activity at various hotels and motels known as the Maple Ave. corridor across the county.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — The Alamance County Sheriff's Office and the Burlington Police Department held a joint press conference Tuesday to review the results of a five-month-long narcotics enforcement operation along Burlington's Maple Avenue corridor. 

Alamance County officials said in recent years, drug abuse and addiction have become a burden to the citizens in the community and surrounding areas. 

A total of 26 complaints were received in reference to drug-related activity in the county.  As well as,199 overdoses have been reported in Alamance County, including 33 overdose deaths since January.

So, Law enforcement officers worked diligently to create tactics to fight drug-related crime, drug-related activity, and drug abuse in the county.  

After a thorough and long investigation, Alamance County deputies and Burlington police were able to find the areas that were booming with narcotics-related activity. 

Multiple hotels and motels also known as the Maple Avenue corridor were prime locations for a lot of drug-related activity. Other crimes such as prostitution and human trafficking were also connected to the narcotics-related activity going on in these hotels. 

The Alamance County Sheriff's Office and the Alamance Narcotics Enforcement Team created a response to address the narcotics-related issues in the Maple Avenue corridor. They named the response, "Taking Back the Streets, Together".

As a result, the following drugs were seized: 

  • Cocaine- 1778.95 grams
  • Marijuana- 4590.19 grams
  • Heroin/ fentanyl-102.99 grams
  • Methamphetamine- 306.499 grams
  • Schedule iv (du)- 102
  • Suboxone (du)- 71.5
  • Opioids (du)- 18
  • Mdma (du) - 51.16
  • Amphetamine (du)- 49 

More than 40 people were arrested and are facing a slew of charges in connection with the Maple Avenue corridor.
