Greensboro man killed in MLK Drive shooting identified

The victim was identified as 37-year-old Lanceford Ross Williams, of Greensboro.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police said a man died following a shooting on Wednesday. 

The victim was identified as 37-year-old Lanceford Ross Williams, of Greensboro.

Police said someone shot Williams in the morning near Martin Luther King Drive and Carolyn Coleman Way. 

When officers arrived, they found Williams with a gunshot wound. He died from his injuries. 

Williams experienced homelessness and was well-known by business owners in the community. On Wednesday night, a vigil was held in his memory. 

No suspect information is available at this time as this investigation continues.
