FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — A person was taken to the hospital after an assault at Tanglewood Park Tuesday, according to deputies.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said the incident was an aggravated assault which led to the 51-year-old victim being taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies said a brief chase for the suspect ensued, it was canceled a short time later.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said the suspect Diego Vieyramirez was taken into custody later that day.
Forsyth County Parks and Recreation said it was an isolated incident between two people who knew each other.
Forsyth County Parks and Recreation also released this statement in response to the incident:
There were minimal impacts to our operations last evening while law enforcement investigated the incident.
Due to those law enforcement impacts, we closed the pool around 7 p.m. or an hour earlier than normal.
Operations are on a normal schedule today.
