RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. (WFMY) -- A Randolph County woman is facing animal cruelty charges after 43 animals were removed from her home.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said Janet Lynn Jones is charged with 5 counts of Felony Animal Cruelty.

Deputies and ASPCA workers removed the animals including cats, dogs, and birds while serving a search warrant for possible hoarding at the house on Kings Ridge Road in Randleman.

Investigators said the animals were found living in deplorable conditions among feces, urine, and trash in the poorly ventilated house. The animals are now at the Randolph County Animal Shelter where they’ll receive treatment and care.

Jones isn’t allowed to have any animals in her care until the outcome of the case in court. She received a $5,000 unsecured bond.
