LUMBERTON, N.C. (WNCN) — Police are investigating whether a badly decomposed body found in Lumberton on Saturday is connected to two more decomposed bodies found a few blocks away in April.

Lumberton police Capt. Terry W. Parker said Monday that all three deaths are considered suspicious.

All three were women. Investigators haven't released how any of them died, and no suspects have been named in the deaths.

“We aren’t sure if they are related, but we are considering it,” Parker said.

The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation of all three women’s deaths.

The bodies of two more women were found in April - just across the street from one another.

Police say 32-year-old Christina Bennett was found dead inside a vacant home. The other woman, 36-year-old Rhonda Jones, was found dead in a trash can.

28-year-old Megan Ann Oxendine's body was discovered Saturday - three blocks away from the sites where the first two bodies where found. Her body was behind a vacant home along a set of railroad tracks, according to investigators.
