3 charged in shooting near Winston-Salem nightclub

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Three people are facing charges Thursday after a shooting near a Winston-Salem nightclub.

Winston-Salem police went out to a discharging firearms report that happened in the street on Sixth Street and Spring Street near ALV Nightclub on Feb. 25.

While officers were at the scene, the two gunshot victims arrived at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Police said ALV Nightclub's building and a nearby car was also hit with gunfire. 

Officers said Rulie Penaloza-Ramirez, 22, was arrested and charged with 20 felony counts of Discharging a Firearm Into an Occupied Vehicle while in Motion, felony Possession of Weapon Mass Destruction, and felony Possession of Firearm by Felon.

Penaloza-Ramirez appeared before the magistrate and received no bond allowed.

Penaloza-Ramirez posted bond after his first court appearance.

Alexander Rubio, 18, was arrested and charged with felony Discharging a Firearm from Within an Enclosure.

Rubio appeared before a magistrate where he received a written promise.

A juvenile was also arrested and charged with felony Discharging a Firearm within an Enclosure. A secure custody order was obtained.

The investigation is ongoing.
