DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Two local men have been charged with death by distribution related to a June 2024 overdose in Davidson County, according to the Sheriff's Office.

In June 2024, deputies arrived at a residence where an individual was deceased from what they believed to be a narcotics overdose. Over the next few months, detectives with the office's Criminal Investigation Division and the Vice/Narcotics unit identified two people who they say distributed fentanyl to the victim before his death.

In July, these two people — Marcus Dwayne Parker, 41 of Greensboro, and Cory Bailor, 45 of Lexington — were arrested for unrelated drug charges. After detectives received the result of the victim's autopsy, which showed that they died from fentanyl toxicity, both Parker and Bailor were indicted by a grand jury for the charge of death by distribution.

Both Parker and Bailor have been ordered to the Davidson County Detention Center pending their court date, according to the Sheriff's Office.
