HIGH POINT, NC (WFMY) -- High Point Police have made a second arrest in the murder of a pregnant woman and her unborn child.
Anastasia Ray was shot in the head after a shooting on Thissell Street and Commerce Avenue on August 6, 2018, in High Point.
Police arrested Hykeem Marquis Simmons,21, and charged him with First Degree Murder for Anastasia's death.
After further investigation on the case, police have now arrested 16-year-old Jonas Thompson.
Thompson is also being charged with First Degree Murder for the death of Anastasia Ray and Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to kill inflicting Serious Injury on Corey Ray.
Corey Ray was also in the house when Anastasia was shot. He suffered a gunshot wound to the buttocks.
Neighbors like Tawanna Thompson feel uneasy sitting on their own front porch.
"With baby girl and her unborn baby, like that is tragic for you to just, you know, you don't even feel comfortable to be able to sit in your house and be on your phone or watch tv or your kids or anything like that like, it's crazy," said Thompson.
Even more concerning to Thompson is how young the suspects are in these deadly crimes.
"It's babies that's committing it, like their whole life is gone. They're taking people's lives and then their whole lives are gone. It's like two families are pretty much being, you know, people are taken away from them," said Thompson.
