13-year-old boy arrested after thousands of dollars worth of stolen goods are found in bookbag

Officers took the teen into custody while he was at school after finding thousands of dollars worth of stolen goods in his bookbag.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A 13-year-old boy is in the custody of the High Point Police Department after he was charged with multiple felonies for stealing thousands of dollars worth of items.

Officials said they responded to a breaking and entering call on Wednesday, Oct. 9 around 10 a.m. at NC Distro, on 1501 S. Main Street.

Officers were shown security footage of a suspect throwing a rock through a glass down at about 8:30 a.m.. The suspect could be seen filling a bag with items from the store, totaling about $3,000.

Officers were able to identify the suspect and find the school he was enrolled in. There they searched the boy's bookbag and found the stolen goods.

He was charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny after breaking and entering. Officers received a custody order and the teen was taken to a juvenile detention center in Greensboro.
