100K reward offered for info in substation shootings, looking for owners of minivan, FBI says

The damage from the shootings caused a massive power outage for nearly 45,000 people that lasted five days.

MOORE COUNTY, N.C. — Editor's note: The video above is of a previously reported story on the substation shootings.

The FBI and Moore County Sheriff's Office are asking for the public's assistance in finding a minivan they believe is connected to the substation shootings in 2022.

Multiple shots were fired at two Duke Energy electrical substations located approximately 10 miles apart in West End and Carthage on Dec. 3, 2022.

The damage caused a massive power outage for nearly 45,000 people that lasted five days.

The FBI said a minivan was seen in the area around the time of the shootings.

The FBI believes the occupants of the van may have information related to the substation shootings.

The van is likely a silver or light blue, 2011-2017, Honda Odyssey, according to the FBI.

Investigators are asking anyone who saw the van the night of the shooting between 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. to call the FBI at 1-800-CALL FBI (225-5324).

There is a combined reward up to $100,000.

The FBI, Moore County, the North Carolina Governor’s office, and Duke Energy are each offering up to $25,000 for information to solve the case.
