HIGH POINT, N.C. — The pageant world means much more than the glitz and glamour of being on stage.
These pageant queens have got beauty, brains, and lots of ambition, and they are doing it all in high school.
WFMY News 2 caught up with Triad pageant organization, Miss Thomasville/ Central Carolina / Davidson County, as they prepare to compete in the 2024 Miss North Carolina 'Teen' pageant.
Miss Thomasville 2024 - Carrie Rader
Carrie Rader is the 2024 Miss Thomasville Teen title holder, with a passion for volunteerism. This motivated her to create her own community service initiative known as Carrie Cares: empowering the youth through volunteerism will give you the “where” and “how” to start volunteering.
"My goal is to connect teens with volunteer opportunities. I want to raise significant amounts of money for homeless shelters around the state, and attend schools to preach the importance of volunteering to the younger generation," Carrie Rader, Miss Thomasville Teen said.
Miss Central Carolina 2024 - Savanna Holland
Savanna Holland is the 2024 Miss Central Carolina Teen title holder, with a passion for blood donation. Holland wants to bring awareness to DBA (Diamond-Blackfan Anemia) which is a rare blood disease her grandmother had. Donating blood for DBA aims to inspire people to donate blood and educate our community on rare blood diseases like Diamond-Blackfan Anemia.
"As the blood donor age is 16, I plan to get into multiple high schools and discuss the importance of donating blood as students reach the age of 16. Only 3% of eligible donors donate annually. I believe together we can get that number up, one pint at a time," Savanna Holland, Miss Central Carolina Teen said.
Both beauty queens will be competing for the title of Miss North Carolina Teen right here in the Triad at the High Point Theatre on June 24, followed by the crowning of Miss North Carolina on June 29. For more information on getting your tickets, click or tap HERE.
