Triad Fire Department Getting Super-Tanker That Holds 3X More Water

The Pinecroft Sedgefield Fire Department is getting a 3,000 gallon super-tanker, which holds 3 times more water than a normal fire truck.

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- The Pinecroft Sedgefield Fire Department knows what it's like to respond to fires were hydrants aren't close by.

That's why they're looking forward to getting the department's new super-tanker soon.

The new fire engine will replace three other trucks from the fleet.

It holds 3,000 gallons of water, which is three times more than a typical fire truck.

The fire chief says having just one truck on a scene will help get more firefighters on the ground to fight fires.

With good maintenance, the fire department says the fire engine could last for 30 or more years.
