LEXINGTON, N.C. — This morning a Triad roofing company is re-doing the roof of a veteran's home in Lexington.
Skywalker Roofing is working to re-do the roof in one day. It is made possible by The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project and Purple Heart Homes.
U.S. Army Veteran Carroll Dornhecker was selected to receive the home improvement project. He told WFMY News 2 a new roof provides a renewed sense of security.
"I'm really just appreciative of everything their going to do for me and my family. Hard times come for a lot of people and some can't get out of a situation," Dornhecker shared.
He is a part of over 625 service members selected to get a new roof through the The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project. Our team spoke to Skywalker Roofing who is installing the roof. Owner Luke Wilson said his company has installed 10 roofs through this partnership and an additional 10 roofs for people in need of help.
"At Skywalker roofing our number one core value is serving people and loving people. It's what we need to do everyday, this is how we give back," Wilson said.
Downhecker told us this home improvement project serves as an early Christmas present for his family.
