NORTH CAROLINA, USA — After two years, the United House of Prayer For All People in Eden has re-opened. The church hosted a rededication service this weekend in a new building.
A spokesperson for the congregation said this is a new beginning for the community and congregation.
"This be present to the congregation here in Eden for their steadfastness despite the hardships. This is a testament to the fact that God always comes through in the end," Elder Dr. L. Murray said.
Eden investigators confirmed an intentional fire was set to the previous building in November 2021.
Over in Randolph County, Franklinville United Methodist Church said they are working towards a new building in the upcoming year.
County officials said a wall collapse caused a temporary leak. The official cause of the collapse is still unknown.
Fundraising is underway and the church is thankful to have access to parts of their building still.
"Our fellowship hall and the rooms above it are safe. Our Sunday school rooms in our offices are safe. If you drive by the sanctuary you can see the inside completely," Reverend Michele Hill said.
She is the pastor at Franklinville United Methodist Church.
It is unclear when the church will get a new house of worship.
United House of Prayer in Eden said their new building holds just over 170 people.
WFMY News 2 has reached out to Eden police for an update involving the arson investigation and is still waiting to hear back.
