How the Forsyth County Sheriff stays in shape with new hobby

Sheriff Kimbrough has organized spin classes over the past few months.

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough Jr. has a new hobby that might surprise you.

Sheriff Kimbrough has organized spin classes over the past few months at Fuel Fitness in Winston-Salem. The group meets several times a week.

He says he got involved in classes following advice from his doctor.

"She was telling me 'you're not the superman you used to be'. A lot of people out there that need exercise to keep moving," Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough Jr. said.

Sheriff Kimbrough also believes it is important for him to be visible outside of his uniform.

Latisha Harrison, a class participant says this is a good opportunity for the sheriff to show people he is human.

"I know being law enforcement is 24 hours, 7 days a week. But it is just time for him to come in and just relax and be himself. Just let loose and let the community know that 'hey I am human, I am offering this class and come out and support,'" Harrison said.

The class is taking a few weeks off before starting back up in mid-July.
