GREENSBORO, N.C. — The songs tell us 'It's the most wonderful time of the year', but the holidays can be tough.
"While it's such a joy of the season, for our seniors, a lot of times it can be a sad season of people in their life who have, who have passed on or just an isolating season," said Courtney Lake, Senior Resources of Guilford, Director of Nutrition Services.
Senior Resources of Guilford needs help from the community to bring a little joy to seniors in Guilford County, Greensboro, and High Point this holiday. Their program is called Santa for Seniors. The goal is to bring a bag full of goodies to 900 seniors. Half of the seniors on the list get Meals on Wheels services. Other seniors were identified through programs Senior Resources is affiliated with.
"This is just a really good way for the community of Guilford County to wrap their arms around these seniors and just have these seniors stone during the season that it's not just us providing to them, it's the community as a whole," said Lake.
You can be part of Santa for Seniors by donating new unopened items:
Microwave, shelf-stable meals
Chapstick
Toiletries
Paper goods (Toilet paper, tissues, wipes)
Cold weather items (lap blankets, gloves, scarves, hats)
Activity books
Individually wrapped snacks
Donations are being accepted through December 6th at the Greensboro and High Point locations of Senior Services.

In today's world, you don't even have to leave the house to help. There's an Amazon wish list too.
"We have people who are donating one item up to someone donating a whole bag for these seniors. We're also doing packing events. We need people who are able to come to volunteer at our agency to pack these bags," said Lake.
You can contact the Volunteer Coordinator Alison Little at 336-373-4816 to set up a time to be part of the packing crew.
