The WFMY News 2 family is mourning the death of Mac Ingraham, who died last Thursday at age 47.

Mac worked at WFMY News 2 for 13 years, primarily working out of Davidson County as a Bureau chief, before leaving to work at Wake Forest Baptist Health in 2012.

"He was definitely somebody that when you partnered with him, you knew you had each other's backs," said Jeff Skordas, E.P. of Visual Operations at WFMY News 2.

Mac came to WFMY News 2 from WECT in Wilmington. He was from Burlington and lived in Lexington, where he was a local celebrity of sorts.

"We couldn't go to lunch without him talking to the owner of the restaurant or 5 or 10 people in the restaurant," Skordas said. "Everybody knew him."

Ingraham was well-liked by his peers and colleagues and cherished his time with his wife and daughters. He was an active member of Clemmons Presbyterian church.

A funeral was held for Ingraham Monday morning at his church.

Mac leaves behind his wife Susan and two daughters, Alexis and Samantha.
