Remembering D-Day | Richard Childress Racing Hosts WWII, Other Veterans

RCR hosted a special edition of the event and will host a group of approximately 300 veterans in the Richard Childress Racing Banquet Hall in Lexington in honor of D-Day.

LEXINGTON, N.C. (WFMY) – Each month, Richard Childress Racing (RCR) hosts the event ‘Coffee with a Veteran,’ a resource program to inform veterans about benefits and connect them with local organizations.

This month, RCR is hosting a special edition of the event and will host a group of approximately 300 veterans in the Richard Childress Racing Banquet Hall in Lexington in honor of D-Day.

June 6, 2018 marks 74 years since the Allied invasion of Normandy, France, during World War II to fight German Nazis.

Thousands of allied troops died on D-Day.

More than 350,000 troops were from North Carolina nearly 10,000 of them had Greensboro connections.

RCR honors veterans on the first Wednesdays of each month and 18 WWII veterans were celebrated and honored at this Wednesday’s event.
