Ramseur community mourns the death of two teens and prays for two others in the hospital

A local restaurant said it will donate 10% of sales to help the families impacted.

RAMSEUR, N.C. — Community members in Ramseur are still trying to process a deadly crash involving four Eastern Randolph High School teens.

Now a memorial sits at a curve on Kildee Church Road where the accident happened on Thursday. 

State Highway Patrol told us 15-year-old Mario Lara was found dead at the scene and 17-year-old Tyler Franklin was airlifted to the hospital. He later died from his injuries.

Meanwhile, two other teen girls are seriously hurt and recovering in the hospital. 

Student Nevaeh Gainey told us she is mourning the first day of her senior year, she said Tyler Franklin was a close friend. 

"I'm just nervous to have that feeling like my best friend isn't gonna be in these halls anymore," Gainey shared, "We go to church together, we go eat together."

Gainey works at Shortstops Burgers and Shakes in Ramseur. A spokesperson for the fast food restaurant said it will donate 10% of sales to the families impacted by this tragedy. 

"We definitely want to help the families, we are community orientated and we really do love our high school kids," General Manager Addam Miller said, "It has effected the student body that I have employed here, some of them have known the children." 

Gainey said she wants to shine a light on others as Franklin did for her. 

"Everyday now is for him, we did everything together," she shared, "I think of him and I'm doing it for him."

Troopers told us all the teens in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, and they believe speed played a factor.
