GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Interactive Resource Center's (IRC) executive director has announced her resignation Tuesday, the organization said.
Kristina Singleton has served in the role of executive director for the city's day center for people experiencing homelessness since 2016. She said she believes a change in leadership is the right thing for the organization at this juncture.
"I wanted to support our guests and staff through the shift from 24/7 hours back to our original day center model, and we have accomplished that," she said. "I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the IRC for nearly a decade, and I remain as committed to its mission as ever."
The organization has announced Bennita Curtain as the IRC's interim executive director.
Curtain has served as the IRC's director of programs since 2023.
"As someone whose career has taken me across several states, I've had the privilege of working with diverse communities. But there's no place like home," Curtain said. "Returning to the Triad has provided a fresh perspective on the unique challenge and opportunities our community faces."
The change in leadership comes amid a transitional period for the IRC, the organization says. On Nov. 4, the nonprofit ended its pilot program that extended hours to 24/7 and returned to its original mission as a day center. The IRC has provided day center operations through city funding since 2008.
