High Point police officer's 16-year-old son suffers brain injury after crash

State Highway Patrol said the vehicle overturned in Randolph County.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A North Carolina Highway State Patrol report said on Halloween, 16-year-old Caleb Dulin was involved in a crash in Randolph County.

State troopers said he crossed the center line off Finch Farm Road, struck a culvert, and overturned.

Close friends said Dulin has a significant brain injury and is the son of a High Point Police Officer.

Lieutenant Reams is a colleague of Dulin's father, who has served with HPPD for more than 20 years.

He said the teen has been in the ICU at the hospital for over a week.

"It is a traumatic brain injury and pneumonia. We were able to speak with some medical professionals on Monday," Reams said.

"They're treating all of his ailments in a very aggressive manner."

Reams said the family is standing by faith and hoping for Dulin to make it through.

He said doctors reported there hasn't been much change in his condition for the past two days.

"She wanted to make it clear that he was in a very critical state," Reams recalled.

"We're going to continue to pray healing on him and that every day will be something a little bit better than the next."

He said the Dulin family is made up of prayer warriors and he can't wait to see Caleb's smile again.

"Caleb always has a contagious smile about him," Reams said.

"He's being raised by a good family because he loves giving back just as much as his dad does."

Caleb is an eagle scout, a member of Future Farmers of America and he is active in his church.

Lieutenant Reams asks supporters to keep the Dulin family in prayer as Caleb recovers.
