GREENSBORO, N.C. — The free downtown Hopper Trolley service will be extended through June 2024, the city announced. The service was scheduled to conclude in December 2023.
Since the pilot program began in mid-July, more than 25,000 passengers have taken a ride.
"The public response to the Hopper has been remarkable," Greensboro Transit Director Reginald Mason said. "We're thrilled to see people out using the trolley to explore new parts of downtown -- be it for dining or other entertainment."
The Hopper Trolley runs Thursdays to Saturdays from noon until midnight and Sundays from noon until 10 p.m.
"We encourage folks to try the Hopper to 'hop n' shop' this holiday season. Riders will be treated to candy canes while supplies last," Mason added.
The trolley route is centered along the Elm Street corridor with an arrival frequency averaging between 5-7 minutes. Trolley stops include:
- the South Elm Street/Union Square area
- the Tanger Center
- Center City Park
- the LoFi Park area,
- Several major downtown employers
The route also connects with several existing Greensboro Transit Agency (GTA) routes. See a route map and a live trolley tracker, here.
