High Point Community To Be Torn Down And Replaced With New Units

216 families currently live there now. The city's housing authority says they'll help relocate them during construction.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — The Housing Authority of High Point plans to tear down and redevelop hundreds of housing units.

They say the Daniel Brooks Homes community needs a face lift. It was built in 1942. Hundreds of families have lived there over the years. 216 live there now.

The city's housing authority says they will demolish the units, build new ones in their place, and put in some additional ones.

Right now the community has 246 units. They'll 164 new ones off site.

Housing authority says they are working directly with the families living there now, and they will help them relocate as the construction begins.

Construction is slated to start in 2021.
