STOKES COUNTY, N.C. -- YMCA Camp Hanes is working hard to get ready for summer camp after a tornado ripped through its facilities last week - but they need the community's help.
YMCA Camp Hanes has scheduled two clean up days where volunteers can come out and lend a helping hand.
The first community clean up day is on Saturday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The next will be on Tuesday, June 6 - same time.
The camp says contractors have been on site every day working on repairs. Camp leaders hope to be ready for summer camp to open on June 11.
There is no parking at camp - so you'll have to take the shuttle if you're interested in volunteering. Parking is available at Mount Olive Baptist Church at 5413 NC Hwy 66.
Work gloves, brooms, rakes, and leaf blowers are all good things to bring.
Food and water will be provided for all the helpers. Children under twelve must be watched by an adult.
