UNCG 'Nostalgia' exhibit features artworks from Ghanaian artist

Belinda Hodasi Jones showcases her over 20 artworks depicting joyful narratives of her Ghanaian culture and traditions.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Here's something that will be a good time for you and your family and it's educational.

UNCG African American and African Diaspora Studies along with the Department of Public Education is highlighting Ghanaian artist Belinda Hodasi Jones.

Jones 'Nostalgia-An Explosive Collection of Scenes Representing the Rich Colors, Traditions, & Culture of Ghana' features colorful narratives of her Ghanaian culture, from the rites of passage to royal processions.

A lot of her work honors the dignified and joyful movements of both culture and community which is something Jones said she wants anyone who comes to see her artwork to take away.

"I want it to really remind people of their individual cultures I don't think we should lose our culture it does not matter where we come from. I think diversity is good it's really good and so this is my way of preserving Ghana Africa," Belinda Hodasi Jones said.

The exhibit will be running through Feb. 29 at the Gatewood Studio Arts. For exhibit times click or tap HERE
