Can you believe this is the same backyard less then 24 hours later?

A family who lives on the bank of the Horse Pen Creek got their entire backyard flooded Friday night.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — You may remember parts of Greensboro was hit by a wild thunderstorm Friday night.

A family who lives on the bank of Horse Pen Creek said flash floods put their backyard underwater.

The family said they are grateful the water did not touch their home.

"It was kind of scary and frightening watching the water rise slowly. It was kind of amazing at how fast the water rose," Conner Pender said.

He told us in the blink of an eye their jungle gym and trampoline were completely underwater.

"I grew up with that trampoline... in just in a couple of seconds it submerged," he shared.

The storm brought thunder and lightening but it did not stay. Pender said this morning was almost as if it never happened.

"I was grateful that I have a backyard again, it receded good enough that you could actually see the trampoline again," he said.

About ten minutes away on Plumber Drive. Edward Cassidy said flashing lights woke him out of his sleep. Around three a.m. Saturday morning he said a tree fell onto his neighbors home.

"My wife heard the pop and the tree came down. The firetrucks were here, there was one fire truck here and one firetruck there," Cassidy said.

He said his neighbors are okay, but he can't wrap his head around what happened.

"We've been here 18 years and we've had trees come down, but not to this extent where it ruined somebody's house."

Cassidy is close with his neighbor and he's glad the family made it out safe. He said his neighbors are unable to stay in their home because of the damage, and their community is rallying to help.
