Map: Festival of Lights in downtown Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Get ready to celebrate the holiday spirit as Downtown Greensboro Inc. (DGI) hosts the annual Festival of Lights on Friday, December 6th. This cherished event, part of the Downtown in December festivities presented by Allegacy Federal Credit Union, promises a magical evening packed with live entertainment, holiday shopping, delicious food, and the community-favorite tree lighting ceremony.

Evening Highlights

Kick off the evening with Piedmont Winterfest Ice-Skating and explore the LeBauer Park Vendor Market for unique gifts and treats.

  • 5:30 p.m.: Enjoy a captivating performance by Seasons Best Carolers.
  • 6:30 p.m.: Join in a heartwarming community sing-along led by April Talbott and The Drew Hayes Five.
  • 6:56 p.m.: Witness the grand lighting of the community tree, a highlight of the evening.

After the tree lighting, stroll Elm Street and enjoy live performances by groups such as:

  • Grimsley Madrigal Singers
  • The Reids
  • GSO Symphony Orchestra
  • Travie & The Band
  • And many more!

Special appearances include beloved favorites like Mrs. Claus, the Silver Drummer Girl, Snow Queen & King, and Superheroes, along with the newly added DJ Dance Party at Hamburger Square.

  • Snow in Hamburger Square
  • Face Painting, Balloon Twisters, and Tinsel Hair
  • Inflatable Merry Maze
  • Marshmallow Roasting
  • Mechanical Bull

Bring a new toy to donate to Toys for Tots and enjoy the spirit of giving as a donation truck will be stationed on-site.

Dining and Shopping Opportunities

Downtown businesses will extend their hours for holiday shopping and dining. Additionally, food trucks like Duck Donuts, Cailee Belle’s Sweet Shoppe, and Sweet’s Turkey BBQ will serve up delicious treats.

South End Spectacular

End the evening on the South End with a light show by Greensboro Holiday Lights and photos with Disney Princesses.
