ASHEBORO, N.C. — In Randolph County, a woman's dog is deemed a hero!
The sheriff's office says the animal chased off a man who police say broke into their owner's home and assaulted them.
It happened Thursday at a home in Asheboro. Deputies were called for a burglary in progress and detained the suspect as they were pulling up.
They say the man had forced his way inside the home and beat up the resident before the victim's dog ran them off.
He now faces charges for felony assault on an individual with a disability, breaking and entering, and a misdemeanor for making threats.
