GREENSBORO, N.C. – What’s It All About: DMC is in Greensboro.

Run-DMC’s very own Darryl McDaniels, better known as The King DMC, will be the keynote speaker at The Like, Totally 80s Dance Party hosted by Sanctuary House.

“I’m gonna speaking to the people, letting the people know that whatever they’re battling against, whatever they’re struggling against, any mental health issue, any addiction issues, you have the ability to beat and defeat whatever it is that you’re battling” DMC said in an interview with WFMY News 2’s Eric Chilton.

Sanctuary House is local non-profit that provides psychological services and support for adults with mental illness in Guilford County.

Besides his musical trajectory and impact in the world of hip-hop, DMC is also known to be an outspoken mental health advocate.

‘Therapy Is Gangsta’ is the way DMC is approaching the subject of mental health with his audiences, a way to cut the taboo out of the conversation.

Sanctuary House has partnered with DMC to share his own personal story with major depression.

“Somebody could be listening and watching right now and it might make them say, ‘Man, no matter how many ups and downs I have, no matter how hard it seems to me, if that guy DMC can do it, maybe I can,” the hip hop legend shared.

DMC will ‘Rock the House’ performing some of the songs that marked his legendary hip-hop career.
