Blue Ridge Parkway fully closed ahead of Helene's arrival

The parkway is set to be closed until the storm passes.

CHEROKEE, N.C. — The entire Blue Ridge Parkway from MP 217 to MP 469 at Cherokee is closed ahead of Hurricane Helene.

According to a post from the facility, this means all other areas on the parkway are also closed, including:

  • Doughton Park Campground and Picnic Area at milepost 239 & 241 
  • Price Park Campground and Picnic Area at milepost 296.9
  • Doughton Park Visitor Center at milepost 241.1
  •  Moses Cone Manor House at milepost 294
  •  Minerals Museum at milepost 330.9
  •  Asheville Visitor Center at milepost 384  

The following roads are tentatively open:

  • The Pisgah Inn at milepost 408.6 is only accessible via Hwy 276. 
  • The Folk Art Center at milepost 382 is accessible via US-70. 

Closed areas will not be available to the public "until the storm passes and staff can safely assess the park and clear any storm damage."
