GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Back to school season is here! Guilford County Schools' traditional students return to classes next Monday, Aug. 26. Here's everything parents need to know to prepare.

What time does school start?

Guilford County Schools has provided a full bell schedule for all schools in the district. According to the schedule, most elementary schools begin at 7:25 a.m., with some starting at 7:45 a.m. and 7:40 a.m..

Most middle schools in the county start at 8:20 a.m., with some starting at 8:30 a.m., 9:10 a.m. and 9:20 a.m.. High schools begin at 7:45 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 9:20 a.m., 9:25 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 11 a.m..

Parents should check the full bell schedule for specifics on when their student's schools' first bell rings.

How can I find my child's bus information?

Parents can use the Here Comes The Bus (HCTB) app to track their child's bus route. There, they will find the real-time location of the bus, the scheduled and actual arrival times at home and school for bus routes.

Push notifications can also be enabled for when the bus is close to its destination.

To sign-up for a HCTB account, parents need an email address, their GCS school code (87491) and the student ID number.

What does my child need for the first day?

Greensboro County Schools has created a school supply list for incoming students, which can be found here. Middle and high school students are directed to check with their schools for specific school supply requirements.

Seniors, seventh graders and kindergarten students will need to show proof they've received their vaccinations/immunizations, according to GCS.

When is my child's schools' open house?

GSC said high schools following its traditional calendar will hold open houses on Tuesday, Aug. 20. Middle schools will host one on Wednesday, Aug. 21 with elementary schools following the next day on Aug. 22.

Those who attend non-traditional schools should contact their school directly for times and dates.

How do I enroll my child in a school?

Parents can find step-by-step video instructions for enrollment here.
