2CARES: Collecting items for Helene-impacted kids

Join us Wednesday, October 16 as we collect supplies to send to Western North Carolina to help the youngest victims of the storm.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — WFMY News 2 is partnering with the Greensboro Elks Lodge, High Point Elks Lodge, and Cox Toyota to host another a supply collection drive to support recovery in Western North Carolina. People in Western North Carolina have been devastated by the rain, flooding, and mudslides. As families try to pick up the pieces of their lives, we know those with small kids need supplies to maintain a sense of normalcy for themselves and their children. So this drive, we're collecting supplies for babies/children.

Date: Wednesday, October 16, 2024

Time: Noon -6 pm

Location: Cox Toyota  - 3860 Danbrook Rd, Burlington, NC

We're asking the community to bring these supplies to help babies impacted by Helene:

  • Diapers (all sizes)
  • Baby wipes
  • Liquid Formula
  • Baby/Toddler Bedding

When it comes to bedding, please only donate new bedding. Resources in the mountains are limited and organizations aren't able to wash any gently-used items before distributing them. So WFMY News 2 is asking people to donate items that have been purchased instead of cleaning out their own closets. The items collected will be taken to Helene-impacted communities.

Special thanks to the following organizations for helping make this supply drive happen:

Greensboro Elks Lodge #602

High Point Elks Lodge #1155

Cox Toyota

Walker's Express

WFMY News 2 knows people in the Triad want to help. On October 3, WFMY News 2 hosted a supply drive in Greensboro. Members of the community donated 110,000 pounds of water and other supplies to help impacted people in Western North Carolina. On October 9, community donations of blankets, sleeping bags, and sock completely filled a box truck. The need remains great, but the people in Western North Carolina have been grateful for the items they've received.
