Ben Powell joined the WFMY News 2 team in January 2015 as a Multi-Media Journalist. He's new to Greensboro, but not new to North Carolina. He grew up in Raleigh, graduated from UNCW and is a die-hard Tarheels fan.
His degree from UNCW is a Bachelor's in Communication Studies. After graduation, Ben took a job as a production assistant at WECT-TV 6 in Wilmington, NC. He quickly worked his way through the ranks to a position as Weekend Anchor.
Over the years, Ben has received six awards of broadcast excellence from the Radio Television Digital News Association. He's also covered a broad range of stories from interviews with convicted killers behind bars to red carpet premiers with A-list celebrities like Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough.
In his spare time, you'll find Ben exploring all that the Triad has to offer. Ben is also an avid disc golfer, excited to try out some new courses in the area.
