Greensboro -- A prosecutor says an autopsy reveals a Greensboro woman who had been missing since 2006 was apparently strangled.
The body of 27-year-old Sherri Jackson was found June 26 in a grave behind a house in the city.
DeCarlo Rayshaun Bennett pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on June 26. The News amp; Record of Greensboro reported Bennett told police where Jackson's body was as part of a plea deal.
He had been charged with first-degree murder.
Assistant District Attorney Howard Neumann had waited for the final autopsy before scheduling Bennett's sentencing. Neumann said he expects the sentencing hearing to be scheduled within a month.
Bennett faces a maximum sentence of 16 years in prison.
Jackson disappeared Nov. 29, 2006.
