Asheboro Police Officer Cited for Speed in Crash

RANDOLPH COUNTY, NC-- Police in Asheboro say one of their officers was involved in an accident on Worth Street, Monday night.

RANDOLPH COUNTY, NC-- Police in Asheboro say one of their officers was involved in an accident on Worth Street, Monday night. 

According to the police report, the officer and another driver collided when the other driver failed to yield at the light while turning left.

Both the officer and the other driver were taken to the hospital, neither of them were seriously hurt. 

The officer was cited for exceeding the speed limit in the area. 

The police department says he was responding to a call and had his lights on, but it was not an emergency situation. 

The other driver was also cited for failure to yield.
