WILMINGTON, N.C. — Red flag warnings have been posted along some beaches along the North Carolina coast.
So far, the National Weather Service has reported a number of rip current rescues including 10 at Wrightsville Beach and 10 more at Carolina Beach, according to WWAY. The National Weather Service at Morehead City told WFMY they had 4 reported rescues at Emerald Isle as well.
A moderate rip current risk was posted early in the day for area’s east-facing beaches with a higher risk farther up the coast.
If you are caught in a rip current, experts say don’t fight it by trying to swim against it. Instead, swim parallel to the shore until you are out of the rip.
