SALISBURY, N.C. -- A VA Medical Center nurse who has lovingly helped so many veterans is finally getting something for herself all thanks to her dad.
Manalle Earnhardt says her dad bought her one very lucky lottery ticket. On Thursday, Earnhardt’s dad called her to tell her to check her Lucky For Life ticket.
“At first I thought something bad had happened,” Earnhardt said. “When you’re asleep, that’s the first thing you think.”
She then checked her ticket and realized she won the top prize of $1,000 a day for life. Earnhardt said her dad buys her and her brother lottery tickets because he enjoys watching them play.
Earnhardt said, “He wants to see us enjoy playing as well. This is so surreal.”
Earnhardt plans to keep on working until retirement.
“I love what I do. I didn’t serve in the service, so this is my way of giving back to the veterans.”
Earnhardt chose the annuity prize of $365,000 a year. She’ll receive $252,763 after taxes.
