WILMINGTON, N.C. — While luxury home building and renovation company J. Long Custom Homes is no stranger to closing deals on high-end residencies, they've just broken a state record.
According to CBS affiliate WNCT, J. Long Custom Homes just sold their 6,700-square-foot beach mansion on Figure Eight Island in Wilmington for a whopping $13.9 million.
The mansion is located on Beach Home South and is said to have five bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Mansion Global said Figure Eight Island is home to some of the most famous people in the country including Jennifer Aniston, Al Gore, and Robert Downey Jr.
“This transaction marks the most expensive home sale in North Carolina’s history, underscoring the surging demand for high-end coastal properties,” they said in a news release obtained by WNCT.
The home was custom-built in 2019 and was the final project of the late John Stirewalt.
J. Long Custom Homes told CBS17 that eight homes in New Hanover County sold for more than $5 million in 2023.
