High Point man wins $2 million on scratch-off

High Point's Hyeon Jung turned his $20 scratch-off ticket into a $2 million prize on Friday.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Jung purchased a lucky 100X The Cash ticket at Green Street Grocery on East Green Drive in High Point where he is an employee.

Jung went to collect his earnings on Friday and was given two choices of how he could receive his money. He chose between receiving the prize as an annuity of $100,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $1.2 million.

Jung decided to take the lump-sum amount of $1.2 million. He ended up leaving with $855,006 after the required state and federal tax withholding had been deducted.

The lottery raises about $2.5 million a day from scratch-off ticket sales.

Guilford County raised $33 million last school year which made a positive impact on the county's education system.
