GREENSBORO, N.C. — Marshall Aerospace has announced the establishment of an aircraft maintenance and engineering facility at Piedmont Triad Airport outside Greensboro.
The aviation company, with headquarters in the United Kingdom, plans to bring more money and jobs benefiting the city, county, and state.
According to their website, the company focuses primarily on a particular aircraft's maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
They also run an Aerostructures business, which designs and manufactures fuel systems and tanks.
The company says it will invest $50 million in the new facility.
“We believe Greensboro is the ideal home of our U.S. Aerospace operations and are very grateful for the exceptional support and partnership we have received from Greensboro City Council and the State Government of North Carolina,” said Marshall Group CEO Kathy Jenkins.
The company operates all across the country and has decades of experience with the C-130 four engine aircraft.
"The Triad area already has a rich history in the aerospace industry and the community cannot wait to welcome Marshall to the area," North Carolina Senator Ted Budd said. "The new facility will bring over 240 jobs to North Carolina."
Greensboro City Council approved a $240,000 incentives package for the company. The jobs-based incentive is $1,000 per job. The company plans to open 240 job positions over a five-year period.
City leaders say the full-time positions would pay an annual average of $73,250.
Officials say the company will bring an $18 million economic boost each year.
