Are you looking forward to the opening of the Danville Casino?

The City Manager of Danville, VA says the project is on track to open before the end of the year.

DANVILLE, Va. — A lot of progress is being made in the construction of the Caesars Casino and Resort in Danville, Virginia.

City officials said the project is nearing completion, the doors are expected to open in just a few months.

Caesars Virginia made a $750 million dollar investment into the initiative.

"I've been told that they will be open in December of this year for the full resort, so and that is the expectation," City Manager of Danville Virginia Ken Larking said.

On the corner of West Main Street, a sign reads, 'Future Home of Caesars'. If you drive by,  construction workers are on roofs and inside of rooms.

Caesars Virginia shared these pictures online of what it looks like inside.

Larking called the work impressive. Meanwhile, a tent next door hosts a temporary casino. Larking said in just one year it brought in nearly $20 million dollars in state and local taxes. The city expects that number to grow.

"In the upcoming budget, we have estimated that it will be $25 million because, for half the year, it will be in the full resort.

With all the hustle and bustle in the Triad, The City of Danville said the casino is just one of many big things coming to the city.

"I can say that we feel like great opportunities for businesses to choose to locate within our area," Larking said.

The City of Danville said the local tax is estimated to bring in $12 million to help out local schools and businesses among other things.
