“Each and every member of the Davidson County Schools family is valuable and appreciated," Davidson County School officials said.

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Editor's note: The video in this story explores what your workplace is and isn't required to do when it comes to the coronavirus.

Davidson County Schools announced Wednesday it will give some of its front-line employees a bump in pay.

Those who are directly involved in meal preparation and meal delivery will get paid time and a half beginning April 6 through April 30, school officials said.

For certified staff members, like teachers, Davidson County Schools said it will include spring supplements in the April pay period instead of May in an effort to assist staff who may be experiencing economic hardship because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Each and every member of the Davidson County Schools family is valuable and appreciated, and we are committed to the exploration of opportunities to express this appreciation,” Davidson County Schools said in a news release.

School officials said they are working hard to balance taking care of employees and continuing to feed children in Davidson County amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
