WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — HanesBrands Inc. has confirmed they are letting go of nearly 160 workers at their Annapolis Distribution Center in Winston-Salem.
WFMY News 2 first discovered the layoffs on the state's Department of Commerce website. The 2024 WARN notice report lists 'Hanesbrands Inc.' in Forsyth County.
According to their website, 159 people will be let go. The website also says the notice was given on Monday, Feb. 5, and goes into effect on Friday, April 5th.
The company released the following statement:
"After careful consideration, we have made the decision to suspend operations at our Annapolis Distribution Center in Winston-Salem and repurpose the facility as we focus on improving efficiencies, streamlining our operations and reducing costs. Unfortunately, this will impact our associates, who we thank for their dedication to HanesBrands. We are committed to working with our associates to ensure a smooth transition, which includes exploring employment opportunities."
